In palliative care and end-of-life stages, whether to withhold or withdraw life support is a
complex and ethically challenging issue for healthcare providers, patients' families, and health
surrogates. They are entitled to decide whether to refuse or cease the suggested medical
interventions despite situations that may result in death. There should be a comprehensive
examination of ethical principles and dealing with intense emotions during the process of the
decision-making process (Barbaro et al., 2021).
